Reactive and functional reactive programming have completely changed the way I think about designing software, and I try to apply the concepts in almost any application I work on.
However, the elephant in the room is: How to weave side-effects (e.g. queries and updates) in a Functional Reactive programming model? Frameworks like Cycle.js, Elm and to a certain degree Redux as well, focus on isolating the effects from the business logic.
There were already many more than seven models when the book was published! There is a list of some of the ones that we considered for inclusion in the book in the last chapter (Fork/Join and Work-Stealing, Dataflow, Reactive programming, Functional Reactive Programming, Grid Computing and Tuple Spaces).
