全称为《鲁相韩敕造孔庙礼器碑》，故又名《韩敕碑》，永寿二年（公元156年）刻，在曲阜孔庙，此碑字体工整方纵，大小匀称，左规右矩，法度森严。用笔瘦劲刚健，轻重富于变化，捺脚特别粗壮，尖挑出锋十分清晰，是汉隶中典型的厚重，燕尾极为精彩。书势气韵沉静肃穆，典雅秀丽。翁方纲夸为汉隶中第一。此碑对以后唐代楷法的形成影响很大。

During the later, Han, Wei and Jin, the rather formal and angular Han clerical script was evolving naturally into the more flowing and harmonious "regular script" which has, with its variants, remained the standard form, learned by every child, up to present day. Regular script came to maturity and gained popularity early in the Tang Dynasty and the Tang regular script has served as the model for this style of calligraphy for all later rulers of the successive dynasties all made it a rule that official documents and imperial examination papers should be written in regular script.

随后，到了汉朝、魏朝和晋朝，这种十分正规和生硬的汉隶逐渐演变成了更加自然、流畅和协调的"楷书"。从那时起直到现在，楷书及其变体一直是书体规范形式，每一个孩子都要学习楷书的书写。早在唐朝时期，楷书就已经发展成熟并逐渐流行，而唐朝楷书则成了后世楷书的典范。唐朝以后各朝各代的统治者都将楷书定为官方文件和皇家考试的钦定书体。
